Built from real dream work
Somniary grew out of years of personal dream journaling and study of Jungian analytical psychology. The interpretation framework was developed through hands-on practice with dream material, not assembled from generic AI prompts. Every feature reflects how people actually work with their dreams.
Several lenses, not guesswork
Our readings draw on Jungian psychology, modern sleep neuroscience, and the world's dream traditions, each offered as a perspective rather than a verdict, and honest where the science is unsettled. The 43-symbol encyclopedia references 83 published academic and historical sources spanning 5,000 years. Read our full methodology
Transparent about what we are
Somniary is a self-reflection tool, not therapy. We state this clearly throughout the site. Our AI model, data practices, and source references are fully documented.
Your dreams stay yours
On the free tier your dreams are not stored, and we never track them or use them to train AI. On the public site we use Google Analytics, and measurement for our own ads, only if you agree to cookies. We never build an advertising profile from your dream content. Paid plans offer an optional archive under your full control. We are a registered EU business based in Prague. Read our privacy policy
Frequently asked questions
Dream dictionaries assign fixed meanings to individual symbols. Somniary works differently. It reads your full dream narrative and looks at how your symbols, emotions, and story arc relate to each other. Two people dreaming about water will get very different readings depending on context, feeling, and personal associations. Think of it less as a lookup tool and more as a conversation about what your dream might be telling you.
No. Your dream text goes to the AI for interpretation and gets discarded right after. We do not keep dreams, interpretations, or personal data on our servers. Free use needs no account, and any analytics or ad-measurement cookies on the public site are set only if you agree. The Companion and Reverie plans offer an optional dream archive that you control. You decide what stays and what goes.
Claude by Anthropic. We chose it because it handles nuance and emotional context well, which matters when you are working with dream material. It does not sensationalize or over-interpret. It asks the right follow-up questions and lets the meaning emerge from your own associations.
Yes. One click, done. No retention flows, no guilt screens, no buried cancellation page. Your access stays active until the current billing period ends. If you come back later, your archive (if you had Companion or Reverie) will still be there.
Reverie is the deeper Companion, for people who want to go further with their dreams. Today it adds a framework-neutral report you can share with your own therapist, built only from your own dreams and words. Deep-dive readings, on-demand pattern reports, a weekly letter, and gentle mood and rest tracking are on the way, included as they ship. It supports the work you do in session. It is not therapy.
It means the feature is being built and tested right now. When it ships, it will be included in your existing plan at no extra cost. We list these openly because we would rather tell you what is actually ready today than sell you a promise.
No. Somniary is a self-reflection tool grounded in psychology, sleep science, and the world's dream traditions, not a clinical service. It works well alongside therapy, especially with Reverie, but it does not replace a trained professional. If you are in distress, please reach out to a qualified therapist.
No. The free tier works without any registration. Go to the Dream Companion, type your dream, and get your reading. If you later decide to subscribe, you will create an account at that point.
Several lenses held side by side: Jungian analytical psychology (archetypes, shadow, anima/animus), modern neuroscience on REM sleep and emotional processing, threat-simulation and continuity research, and the world's dream traditions. Each is offered as a perspective, not a final answer, and where science has no consensus on why we dream, we say so plainly. Our 43-symbol encyclopedia draws from 83 published academic and historical sources spanning 5,000 years. The full list is on our sources page.
Somniary is an independent project based in Prague, Czech Republic. It was created by someone who spent years journaling dreams and studying Jungian psychology before building a tool that could do the interpretive work at scale. The methodology and every prompt behind the AI were written by hand, tested against real dream material, and refined over hundreds of readings.
Dream text is sent to the AI for interpretation and discarded immediately after. We do not train on your data, we do not share it with third parties, and we do not store it on our servers. You can export or delete it at any time. We are a registered EU business, subject to GDPR. Full details in our privacy policy.
